You will not receive an error if you enter a valid pairing number with an incorrect departure date.
Bid for or avoid a specific pairing number with a Depart On Date with or without an Ordered option.
Departing On is the departure time of the first leg of the pairing. Check-In time is not considered.
This is not an All or Nothing bid. The N-PBS Scheduler will award individual pairings if it cannot award all pairings in the list.
Ordered is not selected by default.
Options
If Not is available, but cannot be used with the Ordered option. When If Not is selected the Ordered checkbox, along with the Up and Down buttons are disabled.
Ordered
If you select the Ordered option, the UP and Down buttons will be enabled on the Pairing Number Departing On pane. Newly added pairings and dates are added to the bottom of the list. Use the Up and Down buttons to reorder the priority of them. When you add the bid to the bid group (Ordered) is displayed to indicate that you have selected the option. Refer to the example bid below.
The Ordered option tells the N-PBS Scheduler that the pairing numbers and dates that you entered are in preferential order. This means that the first pairing is more important than the next and so on. You cannot use the Ordered option in a Followed By bid. You will see an error message if you attempt to use the Ordered Option with Followed By. The Ordered option will be automatically removed when you select OK to clear the message. You can edit the bid after it has been entered to add the Ordered option back in but you must delete the Followed By portion. You can use the Up and Down buttons to reorder the preference of Pairing numbers and dates already entered.
Award Pairings bid example with Ordered Option
Award Pairings If Pairing Number (Ordered) A535 Departing On March 14, 2014, B532 Departing On March 18, 2014, C532 Departing On March 23, 2014
It awards pairings A532 departing on March 14, B532 on March 18 and C532 on March 23. The Ordered option tells the N-PBS Scheduler that A532 is more important than B532 and so on.
Consider the following scenario using the bid above: The N-PBS Scheduler cannot award all three pairings. The options are to award A533 but not B532 and C532, or it can award B532 and C532 but not A532. In this scenario the Scheduler would award A532 but not the others because the Ordered option made A532 the most important pairing because it was the first pairing in the list.
Limit
You can add the Limit option to an Ordered or unordered list.
Award Pairings bid example with Ordered and Limit Options
Award Pairings If Pairing Number (Ordered) A535 Departing On March 14, 2014, B532 Departing On March 18, 2014, C532 Departing On March 23, 2014 Limit 2
The limit applies to the entire bid preference, not each individual Pairing and date. The scheduler would stop awarding when it reached the limit of 2.
