Using the Training Bids screen to bid for training events prior to pairing bids

Introduction

Using the Training Bids screen to bid for training events prior to pairing bids

In this topic, you'll review how to filter training events, and submit training bids.

We estimate that this will take 7 minutes to complete.

Detailed Explanation

The Training Seniority and Training Requirements lines tell you which training you are eligible for, and if you are an 'early', 'may go', or 'must go' trainee. These conditions are outlined by your company.

Interaction 1 Click the Training tab.

Let's filter for training events using the Pattern Start option.

Interaction 1 Click the Pattern Start list item text.

You'll set up to see only training events that begin on Mondays or Tuesdays.

Interaction 1 Click Days Of Week List.

Interaction 1 Click the Mo column header of the calendar.

Interaction 2 Click the Tu column header of the calendar.

Interaction 3 Click the Apply button.

The number in the header indicates that of the 54 training events in the system, 20 currently meet the filter criteria of beginning Monday or Tuesday.

All the patterns resulting from the search appear in this view and meet your criteria of starting on a Monday or Tuesday. Start dates are highlighted with green circles.

Interaction 1 Click the Bids tab.

With those dates in mind, let's start your training bid.

Interaction 1 Click the button.

Indicate the days you do not want to work. For this example, choose Thursday through Sunday.

Interaction 1 Click the Prefer Off list item text.

This line indicates the status of the bid you are constructing in real time. As you go through the process, it may indicate an error, which only means you've not yet completed building your valid bid.

Interaction 1 Click the Days Of Week Range list item text.

Interaction 1 Click the Th column header of the calendar.

Interaction 2 Click the Su column header of the calendar.

Interaction 3 Click the Apply button.

Interaction 1 Click the Back To Prefer Off button .

Interaction 1 Click the Days Of Week Range check box.

Interaction 1 Click the Reset All button.

Now, you'll configure the system to award training events that begin on Mondays or Tuesdays.

Interaction 1 Click the Award Training list item text.

Interaction 1 Click the Pattern Start list item text.

Note the warning message. This message remains until a valid bid is consructed, and updates in real time.

Interaction 1 Click the Days Of Week List list item text.

Interaction 1 Click the Mo column header of the calendar.

Interaction 2 Click the Tu column header of the calendar.

Interaction 3 Click the Apply button.

Interaction 1 Click the button.

You've now completed the bid group. It's a good idea to submit it to the server.

SUCCESS

You have successfully submitted the training bid.

Interaction 1 Click the OK button.

Let's now review a different way of adding training bid preferences.

HINT

To use the Training filter tab to add bid preferences,
you must have an active training bid group.

Interaction 1 Click the Training tab.

Interaction 1 Click the button.

The filter you created earlier is still active.

You can add the bid preference directly from this screen by enabling add bids mode.

Choose the training events you want to be awarded by selecting the respective bid item's check box.

Interaction 1 Click the CFC02A check box.

Interaction 2 Click the CFC02B check box.

Interaction 3 Click the CFC08A check box.

Interaction 4 Click the CFC08B check box.

Clicking the check circle button adds the selections to your active training bid group.

Interaction 1 Click the button.

Interaction 1 Click the OK button.

Once you are done, you must submit the bid so that it resides on the server and is considered when assigning pairings. Let's do that now.

Interaction 1 Click the Bids tab.

The bid preference you selected has been added from the filters screen.

Again, submit the bid to the server.

Interaction 1 Click the button.

SUCCESS

Congratulations! You have successfully submitted your training bid.

Interaction 1 Click the OK button.
