There is a difference between entering Prefer Off bids using Days of Week List (List of Days) and Days of Week Range (Range of Days).
Days of Week List
Example: Prefer Off Friday, Saturday, Sunday
For Days of Week List (e.g. Prefer Off Friday, Saturday, Sunday), the priority order of the days in this bid is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. With this bid the N-PBS Scheduler will attempt to give you a block with as many Fridays off as possible, then Saturdays, and then Sundays. By using this feature, you are telling the N-PBS Scheduler that having Fridays off is more important than having Saturdays off, and Saturdays are more important than Sundays. It is possible that you will get one, two, or all three of these days off in a weekend.
This bid is equivalent to entering three separate bids:
Prefer Off Friday
Prefer Off Saturday
Prefer Off Sunday.
Note: You can also add these separately.
Days of Week Range
Prefer Off Friday Through Sunday
For this bid (e.g. Prefer Off Friday through Sunday), the priority is to have as many Friday through Sunday off, as possible. The N-PBS Scheduler will attempt to give you a block with as many complete ranges (Fridays through Sundays) off as possible.
Note: Your calendar will indicate if you have an activity/absence on a particular date. You cannot bid for days off where you have a pre-assignment
Apply Time Range to Each Day
You can select a time range that you want to be off on each day.
The bid preference Prefer Off Wednesday Between 06:00 And 18:00 and Thursday Between 06:00 And 18:00 means that you want to be off between 6 am and 6 pm each Wednesday and Thursday. You could be awarded a pairing on one or both of these days as long as the pairings operate outside of this time range.
This bid is equivalent to entering three separate bids:
Prefer Off Wednesday Between 06:00 and 18:00
Prefer Off Thursday Between 06:00 and 18:00
Note: Setting a time on each day does NOT describe the start and end times of the entire range, just the time you want off on each day within the range. You may be awarded pairings on dates within the range, as long as their check-in and check-out times are outside of the time window you selected.
Apply Time Range to Day Range
The bid preference Prefer Off Wednesday At 06:00 Through Friday At 18:00 means that you want to be off starting at 6am on Wednesday and ending at 6 pm on Friday. This bid tells the N-PBS Scheduler to give you a block with as many as possible complete ranges (from Wednesday at 06:00 to Friday At 18:00) off.
Reverse Range Priority
Reverse Range Priority lets you identify which end of the range is most important to you.
To enter a range, you click on two dates or days. The N-PBS Bidder assumes that the earliest date or the first day of week you select is the start of the range, and the latest date or the second day of week you select is the end of the range. When you select Reverse Range Priority you will see (Reverse) added to the bid. You can only reverse the range on a Time Range to Each Day. You cannot Reverse the range on any other Days of Week Ranges bid preferences.
