This topic shows you how to access the online help system and provides a brief tour of it.
We estimate that this will take 4 minutes to complete.
As a part of PBS, there is online Help available to provide information about the software and how to use it, along with detailed information about any new features, bug fixes or enhancements to the software with each new release.
Let's take a look at how to find and use the web Help.
Click the Help image.
Click the Help (question mark) image in the upper right toolbar to access the web help.
Click the Help list item.
The Help displays in a new browser tab. Note that N-Crew remains available in the other tab. Let's take a general tour of the system, beginning with seeing how to view a topic.
The topic browser uses a tree-like browsing method, similar to File Explorer in Windows.
Click Info Screen, which has a + sign next to it on the branch. This indicates that the branch can be expanded.
Help topics are shown with this accompanying icon:
Let's open the Info Screen help topic.
The Help topic displays in the right pane. In this example, the topic provides information about the Info Screen. The Info Screen has four major parts. You can drill down into any one of those parts using the hyperlinks if needed.
Instead, let's see how to view help by filtering on a keyword.
Click the A-Z tab.
Click the Filter Keywords input field.
Enter buddy into the Filter Keywords field.
Help topics that match the "buddy" key word display. Let's look at Buddy Bidding.
Click the Buddy Bidding list item.
You can now see help on Buddy Bidding.
Let's continue our tour of the help system by looking at the Glossary.
Click the Glossary tab.
If you are unsure of a term used in the Help, Glossary items can help. They can be filtered in the same way as the indexed terms are.
Let's look at the Glossary entry for Block Window.
Not all items listed in the glossary link you directly to the Help. In this case, the entry refers you to look at the topic on Credit Window instead, as this is the terminology used in PBS.
Click the see Credit Window tree item.
Let's now perform a general search through all the help topics.
Click the Search tab.
Click the Search input field.
Enter pairing into the Search field.
Press the Enter/Return key on your keyboard.
The search results display. You can navigate to the help topic by clicking the relevant hyperlink.
Click the Pairing Number Departing On hyperlink.
Your search term is highlighted in yellow wherever it is found.
Congratulations! You have successfully accessed and used the PBS web help.
