Deadhead Legs

Bid for or avoid pairings that contain a number of deadhead legs greater than, equal to, or less than a specific number, or within or outside a range. It is also possible to bid for or avoid a specified number of deadhead legs at the beginning, end, or middle  (neither the first nor the last leg) of a pairing (pairing stage). Deadhead legs are often combined with other bid options.

Note: For block construction, Deadhead legs are not considered block time.

Award Pairings Examples:

  • Award Pairings If Deadhead Legs = 0 legs

    • Only pairings without deadhead legs are awarded.

  • Award Pairings If Deadhead Legs > 1 legs

    • Only pairings with two or more deadhead legs are awarded.

  • Award Pairings If Deadhead Legs Between 1 legs And 2 legs

    • Only pairings with one or two deadhead legs are awarded.

  • Award Pairings If Deadhead Legs (Pairing Stage Middle) > 1 legs

    • Only pairings with two or more deadhead legs in the middle of the pairing are awarded.

Avoid Pairings Example:

  • Avoid Pairings If Deadhead Legs > 1 legs

    • All pairings with more than one deadhead leg are filtered out.

Reminder:

  • Deadhead Pairing Stages may not be available in all system configurations.

  • Deadhead legs are only counted if the relevant option is selected in the bid preference settings.
