Hub Turn

A hub turn combines two pairings into one. The two pairings combined must follow a certain set of rules in order to be combined. These pairings are considered "Hub Turnable".

  • You can add only one hub turn on a bid line.

  • During bidding, the N-PBS system does not verify that a pairing is available as a hub turn if a pairing does not qualify as a hub turn you will see a message on the reasons report once bidding is over for the period

  • You cannot use hub turn and follow on the same bid line.

Hub Turnable Pairings

Pairings must meet the following criteria to be hub turnable:

  • The hub turn must originate from HNL bases and be considered an international pairing.

  • The total combined duty-from the last check-in time of the first pairing to the end of the first check-out time of the second pairing can be no more than 14 hours.

  • There must be one hour between the arrival time of the last flight of the first pairing and the departure time of the first flight of the second pairing.

Reminder: The N-PBS Scheduler considers the arrival time of the last flight of the first pairing and the departure time of the first flight of the second pairing. The pairing's check-in and check-out time are not used for this purpose.

The last flight of pairing H6713 leaves at 9:15, this means it has a check-in time of 8:00. The first flight of pairing H6716 arrives at 21:40, this means that it checks-out at 21:55. The new duty period from the last flight of the first pairing (H6716) to the first flight of the second pairing (H6716) is a combined 13 hours and 55 minutes (21:55 - 8.00 = 13.55), less than the 14 hours maximum.
