Followed By Option - Maximum Time Between Pairings

Followed By has multiple options depending on your configuration. These options are not available if you do not see them on your interface.

Reminder: You can use Maximum Time Between Pairings and Allow Intervening Activities together.

Maximum Time Between Pairings (MTBP) Value less than the value set by Administrator

Maximum Time Between Pairings Set By Administrator 025:00

Award Pairings If Pairing Number 1012 Followed By Pairings (022:00) If Pairing Length = 3 Days If Average Daily Credit > 06:00

  • The N-PBS Scheduler attempts to award pairing 1012 with a second pairing that is three days in length with an average daily credit greater than six hours that reports within 22 hours of the release of the first pairing.

  • You will not be awarded pairing 1012 if it cannot find a pairing that matches all of the criteria of the second pairing including the MTBP value.

In the example above, you entered a MTBP below the value set by the administrator. This means that the MTBP set by the administrator does not override the value you have entered.

Maximum Time Between Pairings (MTBP) Value more than the value set by Administrator

Maximum Time Between Pairings Set By Administrator 022:00

Award Pairings If Pairing Number 1012 Followed By Pairings (025:00) If Pairing Length = 3 Days If Average Daily Credit > 06:00

  • The N-PBS Scheduler attempts to award pairing 1012 with a second pairing that is three days in length with an average daily credit greater than six hours that reports within 22 hours of the release of the first pairing. Even though, you set the MTBP at 25:00 hours.

  • You will not be awarded pairing 1012 if it cannot find a pairing that matches all of the criteria of the second pairing including the MTBP value.

In the example above, you entered a MTBP value above the value set by the administrator. This means that the MTBP value set by the administrator overrides the value you have entered and you will only be awarded pairings from this bid preference if they are 22 hours from each other. You will receive a message on the Reasons Report indicating that you have entered a MTBP value greater than the one set by the administrator.

Reminder: A Followed By bid preference is an all or nothing bid preference. In other words, if the N-PBS Scheduler can find pairings that match all of your Followed By bid preferences, it awards you the pairings. However, if the N-PBS Scheduler can find pairings that match your first Followed By option, but nothing that matches the second  Followed By option, none of the pairings are awarded.
